How do kids choose their movies? It’s a question many parents ask themselves. Young kids (and many adults) are so stressed about watching each movie the minute it hits the big screen that enormous queues are formed and tickets sell out before you even get half way to the door.

40 years ago, movies were not a big part of everyday life. In the 60’s, kids spent more time outside, or reading and socialising than they do today. Movies back then were a luxury not everyone could afford. When it could be afforded it was only ever at the cinema. Over the past 40 year period, movie watching habits have changed dramatically. In 2000, there was a major shift. From one channel televisions and occasional cinema outings, now-a-days children can watch any of a number of different channels and going to the cinema is a common occurrence. In the past few years, movie watching has become very popular and easy to access; families can borrow movies from the video store, from the library, download them from the internet and watch than in the comfort of their home. New movies come out in the cinema every week.

WHY do kids choose movies?

Today, movies have become a measurement of social standing. Children who haven’t seen a certain movie are “way uncool”, and are perfectly aware of what they have missed out. The other children in their class will make them aware of exactly what goes on in every movie. This creates a lot of pressure on parents. All you need to do to understand how serious the pressure is, is simply see the massive queues at the cinema on the release dates of every new movie. It is very hard for people, and especially young kids to wait a week or two weeks after the release of a new movie to go and see it. Just the thought of missing out, or being the last person to see the movie is quite stressful.

There are many movies targeted at young children that come out regularly. For movie makers, children’s’ movies are a great investment since young kids are such a big market. Every time kids go to a movie, at least one grownup must join them. This more than doubles the profit, not to mention the sales of related products that get sold after the movie – McDonald toys, figurines etc.

Movies today are advertised as far back as a year in advance. Posters are put up in every spare space, in shopping centres and food-courts. TV ads for certain movies start as early as 6 months before a movie comes out. Even 3-year olds can tell you they are going to watch a movie that will come out in 6 months. School holidays are especially hard for parents since most movies come out during the school holidays. Sometimes, over a period of two or three weeks or holiday, there are over six movies to watch. In the local cinema there is only a two to three week window in which to watch all the movies that have come out. Young kids are afraid to miss out. Missing out is a very hard feeling for young kids to deal with and this puts pressure on their parents.

A good way to help parents handle the pressure is to assure kids they will be able to see the movie later. The movie will still be there in a week, even too weeks. If its not, it probably wasn’t worth it, and if they still want to see it, it can be borrowed from the video store or downloaded at a much cheaper price. Knowing this will relieve the stress of missing out on that great movie that everyone’s raving about and when you go to the cinema, you won’t have to wait in line for half an hour and you’ll definitely have a ticket when you get to the desk.

Tsoof and Eden love to download full movies from the Internet.

Nudity ands sex in movies can be controversial because some people are uptight about seeing it shown. The United States has a different view on nudity compared to Europe. On some European channels television commercials themselves have nudity, try pulling that off on American television. In many cultures, the nudity and sex factor in movies is governed by a tiered system of censorship. These systems are aimed at limiting children’s access to content that is deemed harmful by the public, the government, the movie industry itself including the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). This is a good thing because it properly limits racy content to adults.

Nudity and sex in American films are looked at by movie critics and viewers with a strong eye. Was the nudity or sex shown artistically to impact the story or was it completely gratuitous nudity and sex that added nothing to the movie? That is often the divide. A few movies that have been tagged as the later are “Showgirls” directed by Paul Verhoeven. The movie received an NC-17 rating because of the nudity and simulated sex scenes. It was a very controversial movie when it came out. Rape, lesbianism, and interracial relationships were some of the subjects covered in the movie. In a nutshell it’s about an attractive female drifter that climbs up from a stripper to a showgirl in Las Vegas. Whatever the movie was or was not I watched it an knew what to expect. It would have been strange to see a movie about a Las Vegas stripper that did not have nudity and sex. It would have had no realism in my opinion.

“Swordfish” directed by Dominic Sena and starring Hollywood stars John Travolta and Halle Berry is another movie that is tagged for gratuitous nudity. In brief the movie is about a bad guy who hires a computer hacker to help him electronically steal billions of dollars. The one scene that some people complained about was Halle Berry going topless for apparently no reason. Or as critics put it the scene was so out of context and did nothing to move the story or develop her character. The urban legend is she was paid an extra 2 million dollars for the topless scene. Regardless, I bet that scene helped sell a lot of movie tickets and DVD’s. While some say making movies is done for the art, the bottom line is always the money. Good call by the producers to add that scene.

“Hitman” directed by Xavier Gens has been viewed as offensive by some viewers because of the nudity and sex in the movie. The plot summary from IMDB.COM is this, A gun-for-hire known only as Agent 47 is ensnared in a political conspiracy, which finds him pursued by both Interpol and the Russian military as he treks across Eastern Europe. hired by a group known as “The Agency” to kill targets for cash. The main character Agent 47 finds himself in the company of Nika who is nude in a hotel room and shown straddling Agent 47 nude. I’m guessing this movie inspired by a video game was made as a total guy movie. I felt the nudity fit the plot because it was the art of seduction being played out by a woman who lived a dangerous life. She survived using her looks and cunning.

“Consignment” directed by Sid Kali is a killer urban action movie. It is gritty and realistic keeping to the beat of the rougher side of life dealing drugs. Based on true events, “Consignment” is about Tommy Jones, a reluctant East Coast drug dealer on the run with his wife, Yolanda, after a rival kingpin’s plan to have him ripped-off and murdered goes wrong. Double-crosses, a series of brutal murders, and an old secret from his wife’s past foils Tommy’s plans for a new start at life. This direct to video movie has taken some heat for a few scenes in it. First there is a very hot striptease scene where a curvy Latina seduces two drug dealers going topless down to a g-string. I have been in Las Vegas strip clubs and bachelor parties where that is the norm. Nothing offensive to me. I thought it fit the story because the stripper was a plant for a rival drug dealer learning what she could about his enemies. I thought Director Sid Kali showed the nudity in a tasteful and seductive light. The other is a rape scene where a female drug dealer is pulled from a shower and forced to give up the whereabouts of her former crime partner and lover. I myself do not know anyone that showers in their clothes except those two guys in the movie “Weird Science”. I thought the scene was powerful and added impact to the story because of the way it was shown. The focus was never the nudity but the pain on the face of the female drug dealer. Bravo to that actress! Bravo Sid Kali!

Other art house movies or movies that show nudity and sex are sometimes loved because the nudity and sex is deemed artistic. “Monster’s Ball” directed by Marc Foster landed star Halle Berry an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Plot summary from IMDB.COM Set in the Southern United States, ‘Monster’s Ball’ is a tale of a racist white man, Hank (played by Billy Bob Thornton), who falls in love with a black woman named Leticia (Halle Berry). Ironically Hank is a prison guard working on Death Row who executed Leticia’s husband (Sean Combs). Hank and Leticia’s interracial affair leads to confusion and new ideas for the two unlikely lovers. It had one of the most intense graphic love scenes I’ve seen in a movie. Some came out against it claiming it portrays black women as ferocious and lewd, with an appetite for sexual encounters, portrayed by the animalistic and raw quality of the sex scene and its racial context. Others say the scene shows two people’s desperate need for affection and comfort in the face of human tragedy. Whatever the case Halle Berry won an Oscar. She is an amazing actress.

“The Brown Bunny” directed by Vincent Gallo, who also stars in it with Chole Sevingy is a fiery independent film that takes a chance pushing the creative envelope. Plot summary pulled from IMDB.COM Professional motorcycle racer Bud Clay heads from New Hampshire to California to race again. Along the way he meets various needy women who provide him with the cure to his own loneliness, but only a certain woman from his past will truly satisfy him. What sets this movie apart is the highly controversial scene of actual oral sex between Gallo and co-star Chloe Sevigny in a shabby motel room. What made this scene so gripping was the sex scene was shown in such a lonely and painful way. Director Vincent Gallo captured the desperate and shallow feelings of the characters. That scene was included in the movie for shock appeal, it was there to show human pain during what most people think is a pleasurable experience. Bravo for taking the chance on making a radical movie. This director is a rock star! Bravo Vincent Gallo!

Overall I think nudity and sex are part of life. To censor it out of movies is not the answer. I say let movie makers put out their work, including nudity and sex, and let the viewers decide if they want to watch it or not. There are a ton of movies out there with no nudity or sex. Leave the option and the choice to the masses.

There are many advantages and disadvantages to being a member of Netflix as with any other movie rental service. In my personal opinion, the advantages definitely over ride the disadvantages when it comes to Netflix. Being able to view more movies than I imagined is something I love about Netflix. So you may wonder why I think Netflix is so wonderful. Well, if you are considering joining Netflix, I will give you even more reasons in this article. Netflix has an astronomical amount of movies to choose from. Have you ever went to a movie store and walked around looking for a movie until you became utterly frustrated with the available selection? You would love to watch an interesting movie but aren’t having any luck finding one. Well, just think, if you join Netflix you can simply type in your title or complete a search, and your movie selection is right at your fingertips.

Netflix is very convenient and simple to use. By using this service, there are no trips needed to the movie store. The movies now come to me instead. Once I pick out the movies I want to watch, I have nothing else to do except wait for the movies to arrive in my mailbox. Netflix is very inexpensive in comparison to movie store rentals. If I were to rent as many movies at a movie store as I have at Netflix, I would go broke. I can watch more movies at an even lower price. Netflix permits you to enjoy a free trial period of 14 days. If you are not positive you want to join, you can take advantage of this free trial period. If after your 14 days you are not satisfied, the only thing you need to do is cancel your subscription.

By subscribing to Netflix, you are allowed to download movies onto your personal computer. Even more interesting, you can also purchase products which will allow you to stream movies directly to your own TV. By doing this, you have no waiting period. The only disadvantage is that the selection isn’t as vast (even though it is growing). I envision Netflix being the online movie download site in the future. Your movies will arrive very quickly when renting from Netflix. Netflix now has 47 shipping centers within the United States. Typically, you should receive your movie within one business day. This is much faster than other movie rental services on today’s market. Have you ever rented movies and realized that one of the movies had a particular scene missing? Well, that’s because you just watched an edited version of that movie. Netflix never edits any of their movies. All of their movies are always unedited.

Netflix is also a social network. In a way, it is kind of like MySpace, but for movies instead. You can view what other movie lovers are watching, you can connect with other lovers of movies, and make suggestions, etc. Access to other movie lovers is right at your fingertips. Netflix takes your children into consideration. Your children can log in to Netflix and select the movies they would like to watch. After that, the parent can then block or edit the types of movies selected. This is a wonderful prevention tool in keeping children from watching inappropriate movies. You will never pay a late fee with Netflix. You never have to worry about your movie being returned on time. You can keep your movie for as long as you would like. While Netflix doesn’t claim to be perfect, it is still one of the largest movie rental services on the market. If you are thinking about joining Netflix, I certainly hope this article assisted you with seeing how fun and convenient. Netflix can really be. Just think, your movies could actually be in your house tomorrow by joining Netflix today.

Sometimes, there is nothing better to do than watch a good movie. But did you know how much of an impact movies have on our lives? Since movies combine sight and sound, they serve as a powerful outlet to connect with our inner selves, and help guide us along some of life’s greater challenges. If you are an outgoing person, chances are that you like watching positive movies, and vice-versa. Movies are also not expensive to enjoy, and it can be one of many great hobbies to acquire in life. Not only because of the impact on each individual person, but the impact it can have on entire societies. A large amount of the movies produced in the past, and some of them today, can actually provide education on a specific subject (e.g. Dead Poets Society, October Sky, Glory). Movies have changed the way we live, and they will continue to do so. So watch more movies, they keep us going.

Did you know that movies can also help you improve your general well being? The right selection of movies, that is. You know what’s best for you, and you know what movies you like to see. So after you finish watching one, try to reflect on the information you just learned, and apply it for your own benefit. Movies can affect your personal relationships, education, emotional state, health, personal life, the list goes on. One of the greatest gifts a movie can bring, is motivation. Many people lack motivation to do what they want to achieve, and some movies are sure to help those in need. Patch Adams, Seabiscuit, Rocky, Field of Dreams, Charlie Bartlett, and Peaceful Warrior are just a handful of the many thousands of movies that can motivate you to live a more fulfilling life. Sometimes our minds are in desperate need of relaxation, and a good movie will help you unwind. If you have a bad perspective on a problem, watching a good movie can help you grasp a different approach to any problem you are having, and may even provide you with some great means to change the way you live for the better.

Now, movies can help you change your life, and they can do it while you fully immerse yourself in the entertainment. If watching movies in a theater doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, more and more consumers are turning to “home theater” systems; which can get on the expensive side quite quickly. Don’t let that discourage you, as movies can be enjoyed from a tiny 5″ car screen, 15″ laptop/lcd, a giant 60″ HDTV, all the way up to and beyond a 120″ projection screen. As you can see, the hobby of moviegoing has evolved to another level, and anyone who enjoys movies can be a moviegoer. There are many internet resources out there, from movie rental sites like Netflix, Redbox, and Blockbuster; to internet reviews like IMDB, Metacritic, or Rotten Tomatoes. The possibilities in exploring the hobby of movie watching are endless, you just have to know where to look.

On a more negative note, where will the movie industry be in the future? No one can predict the answer, but companies need to start thinking. Movie watchers want to walk away from a great movie, and talk about it afterward with their friends. Lately, the movie industry has been slowing down, and attracting negative attention toward itself. What can be done for improvement? Less money spent on promotion, more money spent on production. This is one of the main reasons why the industry is lagging behind. Take the movie Speed Racer, for instance. The movie was a financial flop; the company spent near 80 million for a marketing campaign, and only grossed 85 million worldwide. Marketing is important, but not nearly as important as the movie itself. To eliminate this problem, movie studios should set a rule of thumb to allocate a certain percentage of the production budget towards other expenses. This could really provide a spark that the industry desperately needs right now.

If we continue to watch movies, the inevitability is that the industry will improve to accommodate moviegoers; just some patience is required. Overall, movies provide us with a breathtaking experience, which we all take for granted. They can pull us out of writers block, and motivate us to eliminate some of the tougher obstacles in our lives. So the next time you feel lazy or unmotivated, watch a movie, it might just be what you need to keep you going.

Here is an abridged version (yet richly enlightening) from one of the articles i wrote concerning this subject matter.

Film exhibition began to thrive during the Colonial era, with Glover Memorial Hall playing host to a range of memorable films viewed by “potential Nigerians”, in August 1903. However, the non-availability of proper records reflecting the title of the debut film exhibited has created a lapse in the precedent stock. Notwithstanding the lacuna, the way had been paved for the exhibition of more foreign films at the Hall and other designated venues.

The emotionally traumatizing “Master – Servant” relationship, evident in the constant assaults, batteries, intimidation, segregation, victimization, carried out by the Colonial masters on the colonized, with darkened clouds of resentment, vengeance, thirst for freedom, giving way to splattering drops of such thoughts, instinctively projected through the colonized intermittent in-subordinate actions, began to spread amongst the blacks. The British knew they had to thread with caution if they still wanted to play “god” in their lives when films such as Tales of Manhattan, Trailer horn, Tarzan series began to stir up a revolution in the hearts of Blacks across the globe.

Aware of the lethal power of insurgency which could be unleashed through the Film medium, the British out of fear for their lives and possible loss of the Queen’s sovereignty took the bull by the horn, and swiftly created a Colonial Film Censors Board (FCB) in 1933 to censor and classify films before they were released for visual consumption by the public. Following the establishment of the board, Films such as “The primitive, primitive man, Dixie, Buffalo Bill, The Keys of the Kingdom, Sleepy Town Girl were tagged ’suitable’ to be watched, while Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Clive of India, The Isle of Forgotten Sins, House of Frankenstein were considered unsuitable for viewing.

The Censor’s body underwent a transformation process into the Federal Board of Film Censors (FBFC) from the aforementioned, and the laws from which the transformed body derived its powers ranged from the 1948 Cinematograph Laws of Nigeria, the Cinematograph Laws of 1963, to the 1963/64 Cinematograph Law and Regulations. The present National Film and Video Censors Board came into existence by virtue of decree, now Act 85 of 1993. The advent of Nigeria’s Independence (1960) and the Republican status (1963), heralded the dawn of a new era in all sectors.

“The Yoruba Travelling Theatre Group” of the 60’s and 70’s can be referred to as the “Fountain Head” of movie productions in Nigeria. The veterans with great Theatrical skills and great performances took their works beyond the stage, and dove into the sea of film productions using the Celluloid format. Notable film makers on the Roll call of Honour during the Celluloid boom era of the 70’s include Ola Balogun, Eddie Ugbomah, late Herbert Ogunde, Adeyemi Afolayan a.k.a Ade Love (father of Kunle Afolayan of the Irapada fame), Ladi Ladebo, Moses Adejumo, Adebayo Salami and Afolabi Adesanya.

The list of documented films produced during the 70’s era and transcending somewhat into the 80’s is simply astonishing and goes to show that the Movie Industry has been around much longer, contrary to the ‘1992 belief syndrome’ most have been injected with. Such works include Kongi Harvest (1971), Alpha (1972), Bull Frog in the Sun (1974), Amadi (1975), Ajani Ogun (1975), Muzik Man (1976), Bisi, Daughter of the River (1977), Ija Ominira (1978), Aiye (1979), Kadara (1980), Jaiyesimi (1980) Efunsetan Aniwura (1981), Cry Freedom (1981),Ija Orogun (1982) Owo L’Agba (1982)

The cost of producing films in that era was financially back breaking, with Nigerians further frustrating the efforts of the filmmakers by opting to watch films of occidental and oriental origin at the Cinemas and Exhibition centres, rather than the locally produced ones. The Cowboy films were exhilarating to watch while the Chinese films paraded amongst others, the Legendary “Bruce Lee” in (Lo Wei’s, The Big Boss (1971), Fist of Fury (1972), Way of the Dragon (1972), Enter the Dragon (1973), The Game of Death released in 1978) who exhibited Martial Arts dexterity, obviously a fighting technique alien, yet fascinating to us at that time.

Indian films in the late 60’s and well into the 70’s paraded renowned names like Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra Singh Deol, Mumtaz, Amitabh Bachchan, Anil kapoor, Hema Malini, and produced hits such as “Bobby”, “Sholay”, “Kabhi Kabhi”, “Dharamveer”, “Amar Akbar Anthony”. Their stars displayed great acting skills against the backdrop of love themes, and ear pleasing songs coupled with synchronized dance steps, produced with sound and special effects, though incomparable with what obtains today bought over the indigenes loyalty for their movies.

Thus, the Movie Founding Fathers began to face the challenges of recouping their investments, which gradually became virtually an impossible task, an anthem they constantly rendered much to the discomfort of potential financers. They counted their losses and licked their wounds sustained in the financial battle with every film they released. The deluge of VCRS in the 80’s created a paradigm shift from the Cine to the VHS format, which made productions easier, faster and cheaper by a milestone in comparison to the former. Cinema houses and other Exhibition centres were finally shut down and the Baton of Cine film making slipped from the hands of the Founding founders as they attempted to hand over the movie baton to the next generation within the stipulated Baton Exchange Zone. The dream of becoming a re-nowned Movie Industry was shattered when the flow of the Film Relay cycle was broken.

Home Videos were produced which served as an alternative to the cinemas, and the name naturally stems from the fact that you could seat within the comfort of your home and watch the movies produced in the VHS format via your VCR. Film Makers capitalized on the gains of the Home Video concept offered, and began producing movies using the Yoruba language as the means of communication. However, the year “1992″ has overtime been widely accepted as the triggering period of Home Video productions, with Ken Nnebue’s “Living in Bondage” said to be the first movie made for commercial purposes using the Igbo/English language.

The movie no doubt struck the “Movie Well”, which invoked a mass exodus of people from other spheres into the art of movie productions, having seen the opportunities that lay in the Gold mine region. Thus, did the Home Video Industry tagged “Nollywood” emerge.

The fact that “Living in Bondage” was ascribed with the honour of being the first movie made for commercial purposes and the one upon which the Home Video revolution was allegedly founded on, culminating into Nollywood, didn’t go unchallenged. Late Alade Aromire before his death, ignited a controversial fire, insisting that his and not Ken’s movie ought to have been conferred with such an honour. When confronted by a reporter on the issue he’d stated that Ken had produced over 40 Yoruba movies, and had started with “Aje N’yami”.

There had been a flourishing movie industry before he came on board, so ken couldn’t have started it.
The confusion stems from the Censors board of the day, whose hands were amputated by the Law it drew its powers from, (1963/64 Cinematograph Law and Regulations). The powers conferred on it to regulate the Industry did not extend to “Home Video”. The present National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) did not exist till 1994. On this raging issue, Late Alade Armoire produced movies such as Ekun, Omije (pts 1-3), Obirin Asiko, Ayo ni o, Adun, Orire which were released to the public between 1985 and 1991.

Ken Nnebue still insists that his movie “Living in Bondage” was the first Home Video movie made for commercial purposes. His stand on the matter is rather shaky, having prior to the production of Living in Bondage sponsored commercial movies in Yoruba language such as Ina Ote, Aje N’iyami and others. Let’s not forget the barrage of Yoruba TV dramas that were mass produced on VHS tapes and sold to the public before 1992. One can’t fail to mention the legendary Eddie Ugbomah’s movie “The Great Attempt” (1989), which would have made history as the 1st Nigerian cine movie in the video tape format to have been censored by the defunct Federal Board of Film Censors (FBFC) based on a “special concession” granted him officially by the permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture at that time.

Unfortunately the strong contents projected in the movie were considered unsuitable for public viewing by the Board, hence the movie was never released. Tunde Alabi -Hundeyin’s “Iyawo Alhaji” is officially on record as the first commercial (direct to exhibition hall) video film to be censored and classified by the NFVCB in 1994 at the National Theatre, (Cinema Hall) Iganmu. Despite the controversial fire raised, the global publicity given to “Living in Bondage” over the years invariably imputed the movie into our memory banks as the flag bearer of the Home Video revolution of all times. People, irrespective of Nationality, race, gender, and tribe are confronted with challenges on a daily basis. Some of these problems are of a global nature, while others are peculiar to various societies. Movies offer people the opportunity of telling their own stories, free from alien interference.

Nigerian movie producers leveraged on this and produced movies projecting our lifestyle, culture, local fashion, burning issues, problems plaguing our society, irrespective of the choking stench of tribalism perceived in all sectors. Movies were made for the viewing pleasure of Nigerians initially, (before the mass exportation craze), with messages to inspire, motivate, reprove, and correct anomalies especially in the Political, Social systems, to eschew violence and all forms of evil.

The tactical use of the English language as the communication tool, marketing strategies and execution through the use of trailers via T.V, Posters (now banned in Lagos State), recorded a boost in sales, and expanded the viewership base beyond the shores of our Nation to countries such as Ghana, Togo, South Africa, Kenya, U.S.A and even the U.K.. Unfortunately, the movies churned out at an alarming rate were technically deficient in key areas considered as germane in the production process.

The popular “shoe string budget” tag has become synonymous with the Industry’s antecedent of making movies on extremely low budgets compared to other movie bodies in other countries, ($10- $15,000 initially), but currently stretches to $25,000, with a microscopic number of producers further stretching the seemingly financial limit to N 7,10,20 Million and more. The movies were and are still shot dominantly between 10-12 days, via Beta cam (now HDV cameras), were produced in the VHS format (now VCD & DVD), replicated in mass and sold by the Marketers who also doubled as Distributors.

Over a thousand movies were being churned out yearly by producers and utterly amazed by the staggering statistical data of movie productions, the International movie spotlight was shone on the Multi Million naira Industry “Nollywood”. The Industry’s net worth as at 2008 stood between an estimated $250 and $300 Million dollars. It is worthy of note that a Global cinema survey, conducted in 2006 by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) and released sometime in May 2009, ranked Nollywood as the second largest producing movie body in the world behind Bollywood and ahead of Hollywood based on the numerical data of the movies produced.

For the movie fanatics out there that have to have all the latest movies or the oldest of classics, is finding the movies you want hard to find and is it getting downright expensive to build your DVD collection? Is there an alternative way of buying movies without having to search all over the Internet or having to break into the piggy bank to get your next movie DVD? The good news is, yes, there is a way of finding those movies that you gotta have and movies that you were not sure of but didn’t want to go over your monthly budget to risk buying a dud of a movie. You can now Download Full Version Movies without breaking the bank and you have thousands of titles to choose from.

The old way of renting a movie at the local movie store or even the new ways of buying DVDs directly off the Internet still has its drawbacks. You still have to return the movies once you are done and also if you buy a DVD you have to wait for that DVD to be mailed to you before you can enjoy it. Either way you have to wait before you can get the satisfaction of knowing if the movie was worth the trip to the store (twice) or just waiting for it to come in the mail. All this waiting is a bummer when all you want to do is watch a movie. So what alternatives are out there to satisfy your movies needs?

Typically each movie has a quality from 700kps (kilobits per second) to 6000kps (DVD quality). Most of the download sites offer DVD quality downloads which when transfer ed to the your TV or portable movie player still looks crisp and sharp.

When you Download Full Version Movies over the Internet, times can vary with each Internet connection. This software is linked to a large network to help you enjoy unlimited movie downloads anytime you want.

The list of the “top animated movies of all time” falls into an entirely different category to all other movies. In the past animated movies were created by artists who drew endless pictures of moving figures. Today, animation is based on the advanced technology of the age. The modern animator sits and manipulates the images on the computer.

In the past, animated movies were for only for kids. Coloured movies like Snow White or Cinderella. Now a days you can find grown ups sitting in cinemas with no children in sight watching movies like Shrek and Nemo.

In our family, we make sure we go see all the animated movies so we can joke and laugh, and recite them at dinnertime together. Animation is no longer only for the young ones.

When you go through the top 10 animated movies, you can see they are all new (the oldest one being from 1992)

o The top most animated movie was “Shrek 2″ which was a Disney production and came out in theatres in 2004. “Shrek 2″ made a total worldwide gross income of $920,665,658. Shrek 2 came out only three years after Shrek first appeared and become one of the most profitable animated movies. (the movie, Shrek is the 9th profitable movie of all times)

o The second best animated movie was “Finding Nemo”. DreamWorks Production made this movie and it totaled a worldwide gross income of $864,625,978

o The third animated movie was the oldest movie in the top 10 animation movies of all times. The movie “The Lion King” came out in 1994 and had a total worldwide gross income of $783,841,776

o The 4th animated movie was the Disney movie “The Incredibles” (2004) with a total worldwide gross income of $631,436,092

o The 5th animated movie was “Monster’s Inc” (2001) with total worldwide gross income of $529,061,238

o The 6th animated movie was another DreamWorks movie, “Madagascar” (2005) with a total worldwide gross income of $527,890,631

o The seventh animated movie was “Aladdin” in 1992. It was a DreamWorks movie. This movie totaled a worldwide gross income was $504,050,219

o The eighth animated movie was Disney’s production “Toy Story 2″ from 1999 and had a total worldwide gross income of $485,015,179.

o The ninth animated movie was none other than “Shrek” (2001) with a total worldwide gross income of $484,409,218, almost half of “Shrek 2″.
o The 10th animated movie was “Tarzan” (1999). Which was a Disney movie, with a total worldwide gross income of $449,391,819

It is easy to see from the list that DreamWorks and Disney are leading the animation industry and that their move to advanced animation technology has contributed greatly to their success.

While many people think that sequels are just leveraging the first movie and have nothing extra to give the audience, we can learn from the list of the top animated movies that sequels have a great advantage and have a potential to break profit records. Shrek 2 and Toy Story are great indicators of that.

Because animation is based on technology, and many of the animated movies are computer generated, it is funny to write, “Top animated movies”. The progress of technology is speeding so fast that by the time I finish writing this article, a new animated movie, made with new technology, will jump into the top 10 list of the most profitable movies of all time.

Tsoof and Eden love to watch movies. You too can download full movies from the Internet and enjoy watching.

I’m a big fan of horror movies, and especially of a good vampire movie. While there are tons of cheap crap vampire movies out there, there are is also a wide array of great movies that, best of all, vary in style from one film to another. The trouble with making a top ten list for vampire movies is that some people like comedies, others like the strange surreal films, while others want blood and guts and the scariest movie they can find.

So my top ten movie list is focusing on ten great, diverse vampire movies. This list is the top ten for variety in this genre. This list will show you the wide variety of options directors have when using vampires as the subject of their films.

Nosferatu: Eine Symphonie des Gravens (1922)

This is the grandfather of all vampire movies, a movie that never should have been made. This film is a black and white silent picture that stars Max Schrek as the creepy Count Orlock. This film was an expressionist film that remains extremely popular today, but because of a weird way: half the people who still watch this film find Nosferatu extremely creepy and scary, while the other half find it campy and hilarious.

This is one of the earliest vampire films, and after it’s release, Bram Stoker’s widow sued the director, saying this was a blatant rip off of her late husband’s novel: Dracula. The court found in her favor, and every negative of this film was supposed to have been destroyed, but pirate copies kept cropping up all over the place. Once the copyright to Dracula wore off (copyrights last 70 years after the author’s death), the movie was re-released in DVD format and is now available on DVD. Whether this movie hits you as very creepy or hilarious, it’s worth seeing.

John Carpenter’s Vampires (1998)

John Carpenter’s Vampires is one of the better recent vampire movies that actually takes the effort to be a vampire movie, and not an action film disguised as a vampire movie. James Woods plays the role of the main protagonist, a vampire hunter who is obsessed with wiping the mall out with his team after he witnessed his parents murdered by the blood sucking undead when he as a child.

He discovers that a group of vampires are searching for a powerful doom for mankind. The Vatican then secretly enlists a team of vampire-hunters, led by Jack Crow, to hunt down and destroy all of them before they find a crucifix that would give them the power to walk in the day.

After destroying a nest of the evil monsters, Valek, the vampire master, comes after Jack and his team, leading to a fast paced action based movie that still focuses mostly on vampires against the human undead hunter. A great action paced film that is mostly action based, but definitely has its moments of out right terror.

Lost Boys (1987)

This is a favorite among many vampire movie fans, and will almost always pop up on a top ten list of vampire films. This Joel Schumacher film is also pop culture famous because it featured the two Coreys at the height of their teenage heart throb popularity in the late eighties.

Don’t let this scare you away, this is a good movie, and it is a very traditional story in a modern setting, mixing the two well without bastardizing either. A single mother and her two sons move to a small coastal California town. There are some mysterious deaths, as well as a pesky motorcycle gang. The younger brother makes friends with imaginative boys who claim to be vampire hunters. The older brother falls for a beautiful girl and then begins acting stranger and stranger while exhibiting all the classic signs of vampirism.

Wanting to save his brother, the younger one joins his friends to search for the head vampire and to destroy it in order to return his brother to normal. An excellent modern vampire movie that is sure to delight all fans of the genre.

Interview with a Vampire (1994)

Interview with a Vampire is based on the best selling novel by Anne Rice. This novel, and the movie that follows it rather closely. This is what you would consider the “high end” or “high art” type of vampire movie. Literary, and based on story and theme rather than general genre considerations.

Interview with a Vampire is about a plantation owner named Louis who lost his brother and his will to live, but Lestat likes the man and offers him the chance to become a vampire. Louis accepts, but finds that he hates being a vampire and he refuses to take human life. The two of them end up turning a little girl into one of them, and she becomes the reason for Louis to continue to live, as the two live together as family through the centuries that follow the 1700s.

The interview comes as a young journalist finds a man who tells him he is a vampire who is over 200 years old, and he tells his story. The movie is like the novel, following the philosophy and reflections of this vampire who refuses to take human life. This is a very different, change of pace film that will find its fans, and was critically acclaimed for good reason.

Dracula (1958)

The 1958 version of the film Dracula was ground breaking in many ways, and is the first of eight movies in the “Hammer” series. Christopher Lee plays Dracula in nearly all of these films, and the “Hammer Series” of Dracula films remain classics among vampire fans. In this first film, the protagonist, Jonathan Harker, attacks Dracula at his castle (apparently somewhere in Germany). He fails, and Dracula travels to a nearby city, where he preys on the family of Harker’s fiancée. The only one who may be able to protect them is Dr. Van Helsing, Harker’s friend and fellow vampire hunter.

This movie was directed by Terence Fisher, and it is a British film that was released n the United States as “Horror of Dracula.” While fairly tame by today’s standard, this film was ground breaking for its combination of romance/sexuality, and what was an unprecedented amount of gore.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)

This film reintroduced Dracula to a modern Hollywood audience, and is one of the first vampire films to have a huge Hollywood budget. With an amazing cast of actors and a great director (Francis Ford Coppola), this film won a large number of awards, especially for technical achievements. This is a visually stunning movie, and even Keanu Reeves’ iffy acting can’t bring down the overall film.

This version of Dracula is closely based (for a Hollywood film) on Bram Stoker’s classic novel of the same name. A young lawyer (Jonathan Harker) is assigned to a gloomy village in the mists of Eastern Europe. He is captured and imprisoned by the undead vampire Dracula, who travels to London, inspired by a photograph of Harker’s betrothed, Mina Murray. In Britain, Dracula begins a reign of seduction and terror, draining the life from Mina’s closest friend, Lucy Westenra. Lucy’s friends gather together to try to drive Dracula away, and a final confrontation is inevitable.

This was the ninth highest grossing film worldwide in 1992, making over $215 million dollars, and it was not just a U.S. success, but worldwide. This is one of the best vampire movies ever made,

From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)

Robert Rodriguez directs this vampire movie, which was co-written by Quentin Tarantino. This is celebrating one of the best “pulp” vampire movies, complete with sexy half naked women undead, a modern situation, a “nest” and a mass feeding, with the innocent heroine who you know will somehow make it through, but only after kicking vampire butt!

Seth Gecko and his brother Richard are in hiding after a bloody bank robbery in Texas. They escape across the border into Mexico and will be home-free the next morning, when they pay off the local kingpin. They just have to survive ‘from dusk till dawn’ at the rendezvous point, which turns out to be a strip joint that, unbeknownst to them, is also an active vampire nest.

The Gecko brothers are fugitives, and are on the run after a very interesting bank robbery. They kidnap the Fuller family, and drive to a Mexican bar to meet with other on-the-run criminals. The two fugitive brothers at gunpoint get an ex-minister and his two children to take them across the border into Mexico. They drive to a Mexican biker bar to meet with the other crooks, but the vampires go nuts, and the survivors must fight their way out to morning. This is the epitome of a pulp vampire film.

Blade (1998)

Blade is the first transition of a comic/graphic novel into an action based series. This is as much an action film as a vampire film, and shows where the next evolution of the modern vampire film may be going, as the later film Underworld proves that the trend is likely to continue.

The movie begins with a pregnant woman being admitted to a hospital, bleeding from the neck. Paramedics think she was attacked by some type of animal. Doctors perform an emergency C-Section, and her baby (a boy) is born alive just as she dies. This is the birth of Blade, played by Wesley Snipes, who is half vampire and half human, so he can walk during the day, and hunts vampires.

Blade works with his mentor, Whistler, to hunt vampires. With the help of a young woman, bitten, who Blade saves from a vampire attack, Blade is forced to fight a vampire Deacon Frost, who is attempting to unlock an ancient ceremony in order to turn from a vampire into La Magra, the Blood God.

Blade fights La Magra, and the battle takes place to see whether the day walking vampire can defeat the blood god or not. This is a great action flick, and there are plenty of very good vampire scenes throughout the film. The sucess of the first led to two sequels.

Underworld (2003)

This movie embraces the idea of the Vampire-Werewolf rivalry, and in this film this rivalry is an all out war, with the werewolves finding new weapons to attack the vampires, and the vampires realizing they need to catch up. This war is brought into the modern day, and this is once again a comic book based movie that is as much action movie as it is a vampire and werewolf movie.

The vampire Selene, who is also one of the top werewolf (called Lycans in the film) hunters, finds out about a terrible secret hidden from most of the vampires by the elders, and after finding a legend about a human who can somehow be both werewolf and vampire, making it a nearly unstoppable power, she must decide where her loyalties really lie and what this means for the war and her people.

This film has a very modern dark and gothic feel to it, with every single scene taking place at night. This is a great action flick that has some really good werewolf to vampire combat taking place. This is a very quick moving film that will find fans even among viewers who generally don’t like vampire films.

Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995)

This movie is another spoof from the mind of Mel Brooks. This time he’s out to poke fun at the Dracula myth and vampire films in general. Leslie Nielsen, master actor of spoof films, is in this one as Dracula, with Mel Brooks playing his greatest nemesis, the famous Dr. Van Helsing. This film has the usual Mel Brooks spoof, with plenty of singing and dancing while poking fun at vampire movies.

Mel Brooks fans tend to like this film, while vampire movie purists don’t, but as far as having a list that shows the wide variety of vampire films out there, the list wouldn’t be complete without this one, and a laugh is a good way to end a terrifying marathon.
